Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Wire Wombat collects about you through wirewombat.com, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Site, to the emails and calls between you and our sales team, and to the orders you place.

Wire Wombat is a brand of Groundworks Supply LLC, which operates wirewombat.com and is the seller of record for every order. Groundworks Supply LLC, 30 N Gould St, Sheridan, WY 82801. Email sales@wirewombat.com, phone (509) 303-4726.

1.Who is responsible

The Site is operated by Wire Wombat. Questions and requests about your information go to sales@wirewombat.com; that mailbox is read by the people who handle orders.

2.What we collect

We collect only what the Site needs to work and to fill your order:

  • Order details: your name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing addresses, what you ordered, the order number, and the card brand, last four digits and payment status reported by our payment processor. We need these to place, ship and support the order and to send the receipt and tracking.
  • Quote and callback requests: what you type into the form (name, email, phone, company, ship-to ZIP code, needed-by date, the lines you ask about and any note), or what you put in an email or say on a call. We also keep a one-way hash of the IP address each request came from, to limit spam and abuse.
  • Checkout details: the email, name, phone and shipping address you type on the checkout page are saved with your cart and order before you pay, so that a rep can help if the payment fails. If you leave without ordering, we may email that address about the cart at most twice; every such email has a link to stop them.
  • Your cart and quote list, kept in your own browser's storage until you clear them. The lines in the cart are sent to our server to check current prices when you open the cart, and are saved with your checkout details when you reach checkout.
  • Site usage: the pages you visit, how you got to the Site, your approximate location from your IP address, your device and browser type, and how you interact with pages, collected through the analytics tools in section 5.
  • Server logs: the IP address, request and browser identifier of each visit, kept for a short period for security and to keep the Site running.

3.How we use it

To price and fill your order, send the receipt and the tracking, answer quote requests and support questions, follow up on a cart you started, keep the records that tax and accounting law require, protect the Site and our payment account against fraud and abuse, and understand how the Site is used so we can fix what does not work.

We do not sell your personal information.

4.Payments

Card payments are handled by Stripe, Inc. Your card number is entered in Stripe's payment form on our checkout page and goes straight to Stripe, never to our systems; Stripe reports back the card brand, the last four digits, the billing address and whether the payment succeeded. Stripe processes your information under its own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy).

5.Analytics and site measurement

The Site uses the following tools to measure traffic and find problems:

  • Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC), loaded through Google Tag Manager: pages visited, the source of the visit, approximate location, device and browser, and events such as viewing a product or adding to the cart. Google sets cookies to tell visits apart.
  • Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation): how visitors scroll, click and move through pages, as heatmaps and session recordings.

6.Cookies and browser storage

The Site itself keeps your cart, your quote list and a reference to your saved checkout in your browser's local storage, so that they are still there when you come back. The analytics tools above set cookies to recognize a returning browser. Stripe sets cookies on the checkout page for fraud prevention.

You can block or clear cookies and site storage in your browser settings. The Site still works, but the cart will not persist between visits. Google offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics from collecting data.

7.Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the companies that do a part of the work, and only as far as that part needs:

  • The distribution partner that cuts and ships your order receives the products, the shipping address, your name and phone number for the carrier.
  • The carrier (UPS or the freight line) receives the shipping address and phone number.
  • Stripe handles the payment, as described in section 4.
  • Google and Microsoft receive the usage data described in section 5.
  • Our email, messaging and database providers host the records above. Order and quote notifications are posted to our internal sales channel.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it, and professional advisers under a duty of confidentiality.

8.Emails we send

Order emails (confirmation, receipt, tracking, and replies to your questions) are part of the order and are sent to the address on it. If you start a checkout and leave, we may send up to two reminder emails about that cart; each has an unsubscribe link, and one click stops them. We do not send newsletters or promotional email lists.

9.How long we keep it

Order records, receipts and the related correspondence are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Quote and callback requests are kept while there is a prospect of an order and for a reasonable time after. Saved checkout details and the reminders sent are kept with our order records. Analytics data is kept on the retention settings of the tools in section 5.

10.Your rights and choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, or to stop emails that are not required for an order in progress. Email sales@wirewombat.com from the address on your order or request. We may ask for information to confirm who you are before acting, and we answer within a few business days. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

If you live in California or another state with a consumer privacy law, those laws may give you these rights by statute, including the right to know what is collected and shared, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information; the sharing we do is described in sections 5 and 7. You may also use an authorized agent to make a request, and you may appeal a decision by replying to our answer.

11.Children

The Site is for buyers 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if you believe we have, email us and we delete it.

12.Security

The Site is served over HTTPS, card details never reach us, and access to order records is limited to the people who fill orders. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your order emails private and tell us at once if you think your information has been misused.

13.Changes and contact

We may change this policy as the Site changes; the current version is always the one on this page. Questions about it go to sales@wirewombat.com.
